A couple of weeks ago, we put up a post asking for young entrepreneurs to get in touch with us for the opportunity to win a free stall at our upcoming Adelady Christmas Village, proudly supported by the City of Adelaide. Our aim was to give a youngster who’s just started up or who’s small business would benefit from some exposure, the chance to get themselves out there on a larger scale. Keeping these talented young people motivated and inspired is so important to us at Adelady because quite frankly, these driven little go-getters will be the ones taking life by the reins and paving the future of our state!

We were absolutely inundated with all types of amazing businesses and in the end, it was simply too hard to choose just one winner. So in the spirit of Christmas, we chose three! And folks — if all the incredible entries we received are anything to go by, the future of Adelaide’s entrepreneurial and small business industry is looking BRIGHT!

Here’s our three deserving winners and a little bit about them. Please come and show these little legends your support!

Surfscape Clothing

Surfscape Clothing is run by a passionate 13 year old surfer called Luie. Luie first realised he had a love for business after his involvement in an entrepreneur market at school where he designed, manufactured and sold t-shirts and stickers. Inspired by the surf culture and lifestyle, Luie wanted to create a brand that reflected his passion for the sport. He began by selling his t-shirts to friends and family but quickly realised he needed more in his product line, and soon expanded to include caps, hoodies, bracelets and sunglasses.

To finance his brand, Luie saved his allowance and birthday money and got a part time job to purchase the products he needed to grow his business, all while designing his own website, learning marketing skills and creating social media accounts.

Seriously Luie — at your age I was spending my pocket money on mixed lollies! You’re an inspiration and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!

Alpacaaslimey

Alpacaaslimey was started in 2018 by then 13 year old Hollie. Hollie began her journey into the world of slime with an account on Instagram, which soon led to selling her products through an Etsy page. Hollie now has an incredible slime business which you’ll often find at markets, events and even slime-themed birthday parties!

Hollie has a large variety of products available at Alpacaaslimey, including, wait for it — Australia’s first ‘less mess’ slime range! Parents rejoice!

I know a few kids that would be extremely happy to find your slime under the tree on Christmas morning Hollie (and a few parents who would be relieved to see that it is of the ‘less mess’ variety)! What an awesome job you’re doing — keep shining with your sliming girl!

Hippy Trippy Jewellery

At just 11 years old, (ELEVEN guys!), Lexi turned her love of creating into a business called Hippy Trippy Jewellery. She began by selling her fun and colourful jewellery from the driveway of her home, then progressed to selling at fetes and markets. Her novelty earrings are so much fun and a huge hit with her customers!
