It’s every girls’ wish to have a winery named after them and luckily for Salena, she was an only child in 1998, the year her parents decided to name their Riverland winery… Salena Estate! As a little girl, Salena’s dad Bob would take her to the top of the wine vats over looking stunning vines and just like a scene from The Lion King, he’d say to her, “everything the light touches is ours, Salena.” And they’ve been producing world-class wines and putting the Riverland on the global wine map ever since.
Growing up in a winery meant that wine ran through Salena’s veins from day dot. She was always going to be part of her family business and bring her colourful personality into future wine labels.
The Estate has four core wine brands under the Salena umbrella — Twisted Sticks, Salena, Ink Series and Salena’s new baby going gang busters — The #GenS range! It’s Salena’s personality through and through, and all about a fun generation for people who LOVE wine. You know, the people who are sick of wine wank and being told what they should and shouldn’t like.
#GenS is about serious wines for fun people, and with labels like Get Sassy with Savvy, Shimmer and Shake Chardy and Slay All Day Rosé, you cant help but smile. You can order these babies online or pop up to their cellar door in the Riverland and do a tasting.
And what goes best with wine? Food! Authentic, preferably, Italian food prepared by an Italian Chef! Cucina 837 at Salena is exactly that, serving up the most incredible Italian inspired menu that changes seasonally depending on what’s available in the region. They also offer weekly specials, so it’s worth the drive just to see what surprises you’ll find on the menu. Open for lunch and dinner, you can enjoy a meal for two or a group of your nearest and dearest. It’s also the ideal wedding location, and since Salena is recently engaged (eeeek we’re so excited for her), she’ll be having the first wedding at the Estate next October.
