DECOR

A cute and petite cafe, hidden in leafy Hawthorn. It’s Melbourne-esque interior is eclectic with mismatching tables, chairs and crockery. There’s art on the walls and even a boxed analog tv underneath the front counter. They have a small outdoor area on the side street, which is perfect if your date is a pooch. It’s important to know that you can’t book ahead and they have a ‘sharing policy’, where you will have to share a table if there isn’t one small enough for your party of 1 or 2. I love this idea! Unless, you’re with your girlfriend, talking about explicit details of your sex life, then I understand you may not want to share a table.

FOOD

From banana French toast to fruit salad with home-made muesli and natural yoghurt, it caters for all tastes. If you’re a health-nut or a dipped-in-cream kind of person, you’re covered. They do a great freshly-squeezed juice (try the apple, pear and ginger). It tastes like the food is local, made with love, always served with a smile and extremely fresh. Good-sized serves too. Coffee is smooth, creamy and hits the spot perfectly.

Kid-Friendly?

Not amazing for kids. I took my 10-week-old baby boy and we sat outside with his rocker. The interiors are quite small and negotiating a pram inside was difficult. This place is perfect for a weekend breakfast with the girls, a coffee with mum or a cheeky lunch date with someone you love.

+ VIBE :: Cute, relaxed, super friendly

+ COFFEE :: 4 stars (or 6 if that’s possible)

+ FOOD :: 4.5 stars
