I’ve never been totally sold on Valentine’s Day whether I’m coupled up or flying solo — it can seem so cheesy and commercialised. BUT I have to confess, when you strip it back and realise it’s really just a celebration of LOVE, it’s not all that bad.

So, if you haven’t quite found that special someone just yet, this Friday doesn’t need to be a painful reminder. Let it be a day of celebrating ANYONE in your life that you love.

Grab your bestie, your Mum, your cousin… whoever fills your heart with joy and embrace this day of romance with a little twist.

Here’s a few things for the singles to do this Valentine’s Day…

1. Get festive | Adelaide Fringe Festival

Our FAVOURITE time of year kicks off on 13 Feb so you’re set for things to do with your buddies on the 14th! Head to a show, fill your belly with tasty treats, or even take a stroll through the Garden of Unearthly Delights and you’re sure to feel a bit of magic in the air.

2. Cook up a storm | Scoffed Cooking School

Have a culinary adventure with your gal pal or small group of friends — the crew at Scoffed have incredible private classes on offer so you can sharpen up your skills in the kitchen and let off some steam all at once.

3. Primp, preen and pamper | Temple Day Spa

Detox, scrub, get a mani, a pedi, facial or massage… heck, we’ll take it all! Check out the incredible packages on offer with our gorgeous friends at Temple Day Spa for a truly indulgent way to hang with your buddies this Friday.

4. Catch a good flick | Wallis Cinemas

Nothing better than good company, a great movie and a gigantic box of salty bites of delight! And you’re spoilt for choice with bucket loads of good flicks on at the moment, and even a few golden oldies getting a run on V-Day.

5. Kick back with cocktails | All the cool places to go on Peel Street

We’re SO spoilt for choice when it comes to pretty places for a cheeky tipple that Hayley put together a perfect list. Check it out for great inspo for a Friday night cocktail with your nearest and dearest.

6. Shop till you drop | Rundle Mall

We’re suckers for a bit of retail therapy at the best of times and getting your shopping buzz on with your bestie in Rundle Mall is perfect given Valentine’s Day falls on Friday’s late night trading this year.

7. A quick staycation | Majestic Hotels

A night away doesn’t need to involve romance of the horizontal kind! Our idea of heaven is watching chick flicks, with room service in our gowns in a gorgeous hotel and the Majestic Hotels have options all over SA for a quick staycation with your buddy or even your Mum this V-Day.

So, low key or hitting the town, it’s time to turn that frown upside down when the world is flooded with kitsch expressions of love this Valentine’s Day. Jump on board the love train and make it alllllll about the important peeps in your life.
