We’ve all been through a lot the past few years and if there’s one thing we’ve learnt, it’s that self-care needs to be a priority. Now, more than ever, we understand the importance of fitting our own metaphorical mask before others, so my mum and I set an intention together — we agreed that as soon as we could, we would make wellness a key part of our lives every year.

What better way to get the wellness wagon rolling than with the Adelaide Hills three day event, Wellness Wander — just knowing about it has us well and truly breathing easy. Let me tell you what you can expect from this incredible long weekend on our doorstep…

Aleenta Barre :: Weekend Wellness Retreat

This two-night, three day escape will have you recharging your batteries from the instant you arrive. Once you’ve given yourself an early minute on Friday, be prepared to leave your busy world behind and just relax in the fresh air and nature of the Adelaide Hills. We love the sound of the movement options across the weekend because you can take your lead on what you need for your body and mind. There will be as much yoga, pilates, and dance class as you want at a level that caters for all skills. You’ll also be nourished with a plant-based menu and maybe a little organic wine or two.

Woodhouse Activity Centre :: Family Digital Detox Day or Overnight Experience

If they say ‘shared joy is double joy’ then exploring wellness together is a must for families. Everyone will have to leave their devices at the door because for this family experience you can expect to crawl, climb, swing and splash. You’ll navigate your way through obstacles, a scavenger hunt and orienteering as well as work together to solve riddles and ride tube slides. You can even set up a tent for the night and spend the night together with two full days of fun.

Cedars :: Botanical Immersion, Mindful Art Class or Drawing from Life in Watercolour & Gouache

If your inner artist has been longing to escape or you just want to try your hand at slowing down and exploring with expression, you’ll be spoilt for choice at The Cedars. At this immaculately preserved historic home, you can couple a love of nature with a love of drawing during one of their art classes, where mindfulness is of top priority.

Tilbrook Estate :: Nourish | A Mindful Experience

If you’re after a direct route to a feeling of zen, then mindfulness is your one way map, with physio Georgie Davidson and OT, Annabelle Tilbrook — your tour guides. This collaborative three hour event includes mindfulness and movement practices as well as explores the benefits and teaches strategies for including these into every day life. You will also enjoy locally produced canopes and wine as you watch the sunset over the Tilbrook Estate.

Roaming Zen & Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard :: Sunsets, Sips and Salutations

There’s something a little bit exciting about coupling yoga with five star food and wine because, well, we’re all human! Here at Adelady we’ve had personal experience with Roaming Zen for years now and love love love Jen and the team, but they’re taking it to the next level with a gentle evening yoga class amongst the Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard. After an easy walk back to base there’s the promise of a specially curated dinner by Chef Adam Bowden using locally sourced produce paired with award-winning wines. What’s not to love about this?

The Wellness Wander weekend runs from Friday April 1 to Sunday April 3rd and offers something for all ages, from individuals to couples and families.
