Well, it’s fair to say this girl should be walking around with her head held high right now, feeling pretty proud and pumped that she’s not only the youngest General Manager of Rundle Mall, but she’s also the first female to land this coveted role. #GIRLBOSS! I know it seems silly to celebrate that a female landed this position, but hey, any chance to pop the champagne we say!
Before landing her GM position, she was the Marketing & Events Consultant at the RMMA for almost four years, so she brings a wealth of experience and retail marketing knowledge to the role. Having known Amanda for a few years, she’s not only a super smart business woman, but she’s got a BIG sparkly and colourful personality and is a real people person. That’s why she’s so good at her job!
Amanda Grocock also has a genuine passion for Rundle Mall — striving to making it better and better all the time. She launched the all new ‘Unfold Rundle Mall’ brand in May 2015, and I think we can all agree, the mall is looking damn fine at the moment!
I feel rather under-dressed as I welcome our first female General Manager to Adelady. This week Amanda Grocock is our very special Inspirational Adelady. These are her fave places in Adelaide:

FAVE PLACE FOR A DRINK
There are so many great places to grab a drink in Adelaide these days! I love the opulence of 2KW and the Hennessey Bar at the Mayfair Hotel, the sense of discovery at Austin & Austin and Maybe Mae, and given that I can’t deny my rock-chick roots, I often can’t go past the grungy, music loving Crown & Anchor.

FAVE PLACE TO EAT
Given that I’m a vegetarian and a self-confessed foodie, delicious and veg-friendly places to eat are very close to my heart! When I’m on the run at work I can’t go past Soonta on James Place – their vegetarian rice bowl is to die for. And for my daily serve of vegetables in a cup, I grab a juice from the Juice Lovers Juicery.

For a more indulgent meal, the pizzas at Benevento Woodfire Pizzeria at Hindmarsh (now known as Houda’s Kitchen) are delicious and I can’t go past Ying Chow in Chinatown for their classic Shallot Cakes and BBC. Finally, an oldie but a goodie is Adelaide institution Jerusalem Sheshkebab House. I have my birthday there every year without fail!

FAVE PLACE TO SHOP
Hands down Rundle Mall. With over 700 retailers, 300 service businesses and 4 leading department stores, Rundle Mall has everything you could possibly need all in one convenient location. I especially love wandering through the plethora of arcades and laneways, unfolding all of the amazing hidden gems the precinct has to offer.

FAVE PLACE FOR A WEEKEND GETAWAY
If I have the chance to escape for a weekend getaway, my favourite place to retreat to is Mundawrra Mews in Clare. The area has such beautiful architecture, great food and wine and such an interesting history, so there’s always something new to discover. I definitely recommend a visit.

PLACE YOU DRAW INSPIRATION FROM
There is no place that inspires me as much as my family shack at Punyelroo on the Murray River.
I spent every weekend there as a kid, which combined with the breathtaking beauty of the Murray, makes ‘Puny’ my Magic Place. It holds such happy memories for me and given that I both live and work in the CBD , it offers me the chance to escape and leave behind the busyness of every day life for a while.

FAVE ADELAIDE BRAND
I love accessories and would have to say that my favourite Adelaide brand at the moment is Tiff Manuell. I love her bright jewellery and clutches, which add pops of colour and personality to any outfit.
