Once upon a time there was an Adelady who had a passion for sewing and making beautiful things. Her name was Susanna and she lived in a tower in Adelaide’s Eastern suburbs. When she had children, she decided it was the right time to start her own small business, making gorgeous kid’s homewares and clothing for her friends. She would sell her pieces at the markets… Until one day, Prince Charming came along and offered her a pop-up shop in Norwood for an entire month. To that she said, “YES!” And from there, it was happy ever after.

Susanna’s pop-up shop had an amazing response and she found a new passion in owning her own shop. To keep up with demand, she asked Al, from Cobolt Kids, to bring her incredible handmade baby clothes in and she jokingly said to her, “I’d love to turn the pop-up shop into a proper business, would you like to be my business partner, ha ha?” And she said, “Yes!”.

And here they are  – two mums with five kids between them owning their own business. You’ll find Pentagon Place, (named after a five-sided shape to represent their five children) in Norwood.

“We are so blessed to be truly supported by some amazing creative people who supply to our store, we love having every single one of them in our store and showcasing their amazing talents.” Susanna’s shop is cute as a bug’s ear. It’s full of gorgeous and one of a kind kid’s homewares and fashion.

I love that she had a dream and bloody well did it. And now, look at her fly!

Today Susanna Pardoe is our inspirational Adelady, here are her fave places in Adelaide:

Fave park

We live right near Joslin Reserve and I love being able to just pop over there any time we like. The kids love the play equipment and there’s heaps of open space for them to run free. My husband and I have also managed to have a quick hit on the tennis courts too while the kids go off to play!

Fave kid friendly café

I love Espresso Royal on Magill Road. They have simple and tasty food and an amazing garden out the back. There is a cubby house and garden for the kids to explore and lots of tables under the trees for the mummies to chat away the afternoon. Also, not exactly a ‘café’ but we love taking the kids to wineries too! We recently went to Barrista’s Block and it is so beautiful there. The kids love to play in the garden and have some yummy food and we all have a great time (good wine helps too!)

Fave indoor playcafe

I’m not a huge fan of indoor play cafes, they give me that ‘special’ headache only a playcafe can from attending a birthday party on a busy Saturday afternoon. If I’m looking to take the kids somewhere on a rainy or hot day, we often will go to a library. The kids love to play with the toys and puzzles and finding some great books to bring home. Of course, I’m sure if the kids were asked they would say Bounce for sure!
