Ummm, has anyone else noticed just how cool and vibey Prospect has become? The fashion and food strip along Prospect road has quickly turned into one of our fave hangs.

Mekko Market is right in the thick of it all and combines everything we love — coffee, food, cocktails, art and fashion! And it’s owned and run by two of the loveliest ladies straight outa Finland, Irena and Marianna.

Mekko Market is a cafe/bar with a second-hand clothing market where stall holders can sell their preloved clothing in a new and exciting way.

It’s simple — you rent a rack, they sell the items for you and you take all the money! On the flip side, it’s also a fashion-lovers dream. Every time we visit, we end up leaving with bags of new clothes — guilt free, because it’s all so cheap! They have all the brands we know and love, for ridiculous prices.

The food is top notch modern Australian with a Scandinavian touch. We highly recommend their popcorn chicken, it’s to-die-for!

Mekko Market is built in a beautiful heritage listed building that was formerly a police station/court house. The old police station jail cells are still situated at the back of the building and visitors are welcome to have a peek!

You can enjoy brekky or lunch inside under their super bright artwork, or relax amongst the colourful lanterns on the deck overlooking Prospect road. Either way, it’s an absolute gem and everyone needs to know about this slice of Finland, in Adelaide!
