Mountain biking enthusiasts — this one’s for you. The state’s newest mountain bike trail has just opened to the public in one of SA’s most picturesque national parks, and it’s set to get your blood pumping and heart racing!

The mid-north town of Melrose is already recognised for its awesome mountain bike trails, but as part of the Remarkable Southern Flinders Project, a huge expansion has seen the development of ‘epic’ new trails to enhance the existing network.
For those not familiar with what ‘epic’ refers to in mountain biking terms, it generally denotes a ride that you’ll remember for the rest of your life. It’s a ride through demanding terrain that’s both mentally and physically challenging, totally immersive and one you’ll talk about for years to come. Adrenaline junkies — I see that twinkle in your eyes!
Remarkable Epic Bike Trail
The 38 kilometre Epic Mountain Bike Trail winds its way through the Mount Remarkable National Park and adjacent lands, opening up to new parts of the park and previously unseen natural vistas. Rugged landscapes and spectacular views will have you in awe as you navigate this exciting new course. The trail includes a total of 1,500 metres of climbing elevation and an almost continuous six kilometre descent. It’s a complete feast for the senses!

The Epic Mountain Bike Trail was a major component of the $10 million Remarkable Southern Flinders agreement and was designed by South Australian company TrailScapes. Much care and consideration was taken to ensure the construction of the trail had minimal impact on the environment and did not disturb any culturally significant sites.
Get excited folks! This is an international standard mountain biking experience and is yet another reason to visit our beautiful mid north.
