Even when times are tough, most women still find a way to spend money on things that make them feel better. One time, I may or may not have spent my last $50 on eyelash extensions instead of dinner! Sure I went to bed hungry, but hey, my eyelashes were FABULOUS!
Jokes aside, as females, we like to pamper ourselves with facials, massages and eyelash extensions, and we’ve just discovered a whole new world of treatments at Medicine of Cosmetics.
They offer all the “usual suspects”, but also a few treatments that we didn’t even know existed. I’m not referring to Victoria Beckham’s bird poo facial — these ones are MUCH more sophisticated (and less revolting).
Here’s our favourite four treatments you probably didn’t know existed:
1. LASH LIFT
We’ve all heard of a boob lift, but a lash lift? WHAAAT? This treatment is considered an instant root lift for natural lashes and is an advancement on the lash perm, which is a fancy term for eyelash curling.
With a lash lift, a solution is applied to the roots of your natural lashes, to curl them to absolute perfection.
Rather than sitting outwards, your new and improved lashes will literally sit up towards your brow line. This also elevates your face, giving it a fresh look!
TREATMENT CONSISTS OF FIVE STAGES (ALLOW 45-60 MINUTES)
Semi-Permanent Lash Lift and Tint: $100 per treatment and lasts six to eight weeks.
2. ANTI-SWEATING TREATMENT
Excess sweating of the underarms, palms of the hands, feet and forehead can be a little embarrassing. As fellow sweaters would know, you can never wear grey, which kills me! It doesn’t matter what the weather is, chronic sweaters suffer all year round. But there is something you can do about it!
Injections are used to block neural control of sweat glands and can last from three to nine months. This procedure used for underarm sweating has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Treatments are 60 minutes and the numbing cream needs to be applied 45 minutes before starting. Believe me, you’ll want the numbing cream!
Underarm Anti-Sweating Treatment: $1,100 per treatment.
3. CELLULITE REDUCTION WITH FAT CAVITATION
Everyone has cellulite — even Miranda Kerr. But for some people, it’s more prominent than others and can make wearing revealing clothes rather difficult. And nobody wants to feel self-conscious in the warmer months, when you’re meant to be getting your pins out.
If you’re worried about dimples (not the cute kind) there’s a solution! Ultrasonic fat cavitation breaks down the fat cells that cause the dimple effect.
This is the perfect treatment for removal of fat and cellulite, skin toning, body contouring, tightening and rejuvenation of the skin. It can also help smooth scars and wrinkles. When teamed up with a healthy diet and exercise, you’ll see better results.
It’s a non-invasive and safe treatment, with fat cells in specific target areas treated without affecting the surrounding tissue.
60 Minutes: From $120 per treatment.
4. SCALP TATTOO FOR HAIR LOSS
Let’s face it, even if a guy looks hot with a shaved head, no man WANTS to lose his hair. If your husband or boyfriend is balding early and is super self-conscious, there are ways around it that don’t involve fake looking hair plugs.
Male pattern baldness (MPB) is the most common hair loss issue affecting men and Scalp Micro-Pigmentation treatment is a really effective, non-surgical procedure that creates amazing results!
Your eyes are fooled into thinking it’s real hair. The results also make most men look and feel younger, not to mention more confident. This procedure is huge in America, with loads of celebrities sporting full (looking) heads of hair thanks to scalp tattooing.
Scalp Micro-Pigmentation: $2,000-$5,000 per treatment.
Medicine of Cosmetics also do skin needling, laser skin pigmentation treatments, dermal fillers, teeth whitening, anti-wrinkle treatments, laser skin peels, eyebrow treatments, makeup tattooing (yes, they do eyebrow tattoos) and so much more.
It’s not just an appointment, it’s an actual “experience” where you’re treated with the utmost care.
Jimmy, if your’e reading this — I wouldn’t mind a Lash Lift for Christmas…
