Today, I went to a work meeting with half a Cruskit stuck to my shoulder. Yep, a serious meeting with a serious client and a piece of baby food attached to my very serious jacket. That’s a working mum for you!
I’m doing my best – juggling Adelady, as well as two beautiful and sometimes very naughty little boys. I don’t want to be one of those mums who complains all the time, but let me just complain for a minute, because it can be tough. And it’s extra difficult at the moment, with my parents (the best babysitters EVER) overseas for six weeks. How dare they live their lives, travel the world and be happy!
Jokes aside, I have to say no to meetings and work offers constantly, because I have nobody to look after the kids. Even great opportunities have taken a backseat when our regular childcare centre had no available spots.
But my eyes just about popped out of my head when I discovered Empty Spot. It’s a website that was created with one aim in mind: to make quality childcare available to every parent and child in Australia. Brilliant!
It’s an online booking system allowing parents, like me, to book quality childcare services on a casual and regular basis. Say what?!
So, it works like this:
I have a last minute work opportunity that I can’t turn down and I’ll need to get one of my little guys into childcare for a few hours. But as usual, his regular childcare centre is at capacity. So, I log on to Empty Spot, enter my preferred area and a list of centres pops up showing availability and price. I select a centre and book him in. Once the booking is made, that’s it. No need to wait for the centre to confirm — amazing!
The site is super easy to use and the entire process is really quick. Childcare (or lack of) can be so stressful and frustrating for working families. Especially when you don’t know when you’re going to get called in to work, or (let’s be honest), when you just need a little time out!
Even though you may be on a three-year waiting list to get into your preferred childcare centre, there are actually plenty of secret little empty spots available around Adelaide. Even better, this awesome site will be introducing… wait for it… PERMANENT spots! No more waiting lists and no more calling the centres to see if they have availabilities.
