How to Prep for a Job Interview – the classy fresh way!

As a business owner I’ve had to conduct many an interview over the years and have become pretty accustomed to following my gut when it comes to hiring people. That gut feeling is most certainly the product of my first impression of the person sitting before me.

I am not kidding when I tell you, I once had a prospective employee try to hand in a resume in a see-through dress with a bikini underneath and thongs on her feet. As you can imagine I promptly told her to leave the way she entered.

To make sure that you secure the job, rather than being told to leave without the chance to introduce yourself, here are some of my tops tips on how to impress in a job interview and make your first impression count.

HAIR

You need to have your hair off of your face and pulled neatly away, but never a pony tail (as I say to my Fresh Dolls, they are for the gym) instead try a nice low bun or top-knot depending on the length of your hair.

There is nothing more distracting than hair going everywhere and a messy un-kept look, take pride in your professional appearance. If you want to wear your hair down I would recommend tucking it behind your ears so that you don’t play with it.

MAKEUP

Make up should be kept to a bare minimum, a natural, neat look with a touch of highlighter and a dewy finish with a flick of mascara is more than enough. We can leave the heavy eye shadow and liquid liner for your Saturday night out as it ages you terribly and having a young, youthful appearance to match your go-getter attitude is key.

OVER ACCESSORISING

While I am all for self-expression through tattoos, piercings, what ever it might be, in an interview it pays to keep it to a minimum. The employer wants to get a feel for who you are as a person and a neat, tidy example of that is more likely to land you a job that have a bull ring in between your nostrils and earrings covering every piece of flesh from the lobe to the tragus.

With these tips, a copy of your resume in hand and a sunny disposition you will be set to blow the interview panel away and leave them no choice but to hand you the job with a gold ribbon wrapped around it.

Come and pop into a Fresh salon, there are 8 around Adelaide!
